My Curatorship Journey Comes to an End

With a deep sense of gratitude, I am profoundly honoured for the opportunity to serve as the 11th Curator of the Global Shapers Community Lagos Hub – “the most sought-after Hub”.  

In July 2022, Wisdom and I took on the roles of curatorship of the Lagos Hub, a community of 35 talented people from diverse backgrounds at the time. Serving as the Curator of the Lagos Hub for the past year has been an incredible experience that I will always cherish. I have had the privilege of leading a diverse, smart and high-flying group of individuals who are making significant impacts in their various fields.

During my tenure, we achieved a lot together, and I am proud of it all:

1. We consolidated on the hub structure drive

2. We partnered with Shapers to deliver high-impact projects that aligned with our collective vision of making Lagos a better place.

3. We fostered interaction through periodic check-ins with Shapers. This allowed us to be abreast of what is happening in each other’s lives.

4. More importantly, we kept the community alive and active, even amidst the different varying challenges experienced.

To the incoming Hub leadership:

• Leverage the community. Your biggest support system is definitely the community, and this goes beyond the Lagos Hub. I journeyed through my curatorship by connecting with 40+ curators across Nigeria and 15 other countries to learn from them and understand their perspectives. This helped navigate a lot of situations and made the journey less tiring. I highly recommend doing this!
• Promoting regular interaction among members is vital to building a strong and cohesive community. We all have a part to play in this.
• Remember that the outcomes achieved are as important as the “How”. Carry members along
• Don’t forget to rest.

Bringing about lasting change and improving the wellbeing of our community is a collaborative endeavour, and I am hopeful that the transformations we are creating inspires others to follow suit.
